ITW CP Test Conditions & Conclusions

ITW Construction Products (Mechanical and Electrical) fixings have been tested into the listed manufacturers hollow core concrete slabs. All fixings have been tested into the soffit side of slab to realistically recreate the job site application, and installed to a minimum depth of 30mm. All fixings have been tested ten times, exceeding CFA guidelines, using a calibrated meter. Tests were conducted in order to establish the recommended loadings on ITW fixings when used within these substrates; all recommended loads are in tensile.

Having completed the tests, ITW CP recommend that the fixings tested are suitable for use in heating and ventilation pipe work, lighting equipment, cables, ductwork, partitioning tracks, insulation etc, when fixed into hollow core slabs.  Pre-cast beams consist of a series of pre-cast reinforced units with cross sections varying depending on the manufacturer. Some will manufacture solid units although these will be heavier and generally have a narrower section.

All tests have therefore been conducted into the narrowest section of the slab resulting in minimum recommendations for loadings. Axial spacing figures as written within the document are conservative, for more comprehensive data, for example reduced spacing, we recommend further tests be carried out.  ITW has now developed a range of anchors supporting both light weight and heavy-duty applications, the range now offered is now the most extensive of any manufacturer for fixing directly to construction materials.
